David Vollmer, PhD

Dr. Vollmer has enjoyed over 25 years of experience in product innovation, quality control, and laboratory management. His expertise includes technical and administrative leadership, development and validation studies for new products, laboratory and production specifications, and collaborative scientific affairs. He received his PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Nebraska and his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Missouri Western State University. Throughout his career, Dr. Vollmer has authored numerous published articles, and is the co-inventor on various patents involving the discovery of pharmaceutical drugs as well as natural products for use in dietary supplements.
Brent Vaughan, PhD, RD
Vice President of Research and Development
Dr. Brent has 25 years of experience developing and researching dietary supplements. He has a master's degree in nutrition and food science from the University of Utah and a doctorate from Walden University in public health and epidemiology. He is also a registered dietitian.
Throughout his career, Dr. Brent has formulated several hundred products of all types. He is constantly learning new things and always looking for a way to do everything better, faster, and more efficiently.
Dr. Brent uses RiteStart® Men, Flex4Life®, and Vista® daily, but he has a hard time deciding which 4Life product is his favorite.
Lawry Han, PhD, FACN

Dr. Han has over 12 years of progressive experience in product innovation, scientific and clinical research, and product education. His expertise covers R&D and cross-functional leadership, and quality, regulatory, and business management. Dr. Han has researched and innovated about 100 products, including nutritional supplements, over-the-counter drugs, skincare products, and essential oil products. He has published about 30 peer-reviewed biomedical research papers as lead or senior author. He holds a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Engineering in Biological Engineering from Xi’an Jiao Tong University. Dr. Han was elected to be a fellow of the American College of Nutrition (FACN) for his outstanding contributions to the field of nutrition and health.
Robert W. Robertson, Jr., MD
Dr. Robertson is one of the founding members of the Health Sciences Advisory Board and an active 4Life Affiliate. Following a lucrative career as the Director of Emergency Services at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky, Dr. Robertson and his son Rob Robertson, III decided to start a nutritional supplement company. It was while conducting product research for their company that the two discovered the many benefits of transfer factors. Convinced of the importance of 4Life’s mission, they sold their company and became Affiliates. Dr. Robertson completed his education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and worked as an intern at the University’s affiliated hospitals. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Louisville affiliated hospitals.
Teresa Tomalska, MD
Dr. Tomalska completed her medical training at the Medical Academy of Lublin in Poland. She came to the United States several years ago, intending to only stay for a short visit. Right before leaving, she was introduced to 4Life. Dr. Tomalska decided to stay and devote herself full-time to teaching people about supporting good health. In an effort to further this cause, Dr. Tomalska currently hosts two informative radio shows called “Balsam” and “Toward Health” in Chicago, Illinois, and publishes a monthly newsletter entitled “To Your Health.” She also organizes seminars on topics such as women’s health, cardiovascular health, and health for Polish families.
Elena Enioutina, MD, PhD
Dr. Daibes graduated from the School of Health Professionals at the University of Missouri with a Radiological and Nuclear Medicine degree. He has served as an Assistant Professor teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Dr. Daibes has authored and co-authored over 45 research publications, over 55 scientific abstracts, and one book chapter in applied diagnostic sciences. His research interests include molecular imaging and its applications.
Mei-Ling Siu-Caldera, MD, PhD
Dr. Siu-Caldera is a medical doctor who has done extensive research on the benefits of vitamin D in cancer treatment. She provides nutrition counseling with a focus on weight management, dietary and lifestyle modification, cardiovascular health, and sports nutrition. Dr. Siu-Caldera graduated from the University of San Carlos in Guatemala and received her PhD in Nutrition from the University of Connecticut, Storrs. She has published more than 20 peer-reviewed research papers and contributed articles in newspapers and magazines to increase public awareness on nutrition health.
J. Ty Hopkins, PhD, ATC
Ty Hopkins is currently a professor at Brigham Young University, where he coordinates the graduate programs in athletic training and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. Hopkins graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Athletic Training. His graduate work was completed at Indiana State University where he earned an MS in Athletic Training and a PhD in Life Sciences.
The focus of Dr. Hopkins’ research centers on joint health: prevention and rehabilitation of lower extremity joint injury. He has produced over 70 peer review publications and he has presented his work nationally and internationally hundreds of times. He enjoys working with students in the laboratory and regularly uses his work from the laboratory in the classroom.
Dr. Hopkins serves as an editor for the Journal of Athletic Training, and he serves on editorial boards and as a reviewer with many other journals and granting agencies. He is also a Fellow with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Joy Irobi, PhD
Dr. Irobi earned her doctorate in the field of molecular genetics, and spent 17 years as the lead researcher for the internationally renowned University of Antwerp’s Department of Molecular Genetics. Currently, she is a research professor of medicine and life sciences in the Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED) at Hasselt University in Belgium. Dr. Irobi’s group at Hasselt University focuses on deciphering the neuroprotective biomarkers in exosome or extracellular vesicle signaling in neuro-inflammation. Irobi has produced more than 30 publications and has won numerous awards for her contributions to the field of biomedical sciences.
Don Otter, PhD

Dr. Otter completed his doctorate degree in chemical and materials engineering at The University of Auckland in 1987. For the past 30 years, he’s developed a reputation as an innovative, interdisciplinary dairy product scientist and professor. Prior to his position as Associate Professor in the Food Science Department at the Auckland University of Technology, he served as a Senior Outreach Specialist at the Center for Dairy Research, University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Senior Research Scientist for a food and bio-based products company, and visiting scientist at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
Dr. Otter’s professional distinctions include sitting on the Editorial Board of the International Dairy Journal and participating in the Executive Committee for the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology.
Lili Yang, MD, PhD

Dr. Lili Yang is a professor in Department of Nutrition in School of Public Health of Sun Yat-sen University, China. Her study focuses on how energy homeostasis are affected by food derived bioactive components and how these compounds play roles in health and wellness.
Dr. Lili Yang earned her Ph.D degree advised by Dr. Henri Brunengraber in Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA in 2006. She continued her postdoc training in Cleveland Clinic for 4 years. Then she worked as instructor in Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Medical center of Cornell University for another 3 years. She started to establish her lab in China in 2013. She has more than 40 published peer-reviewed papers, and her lab is supported by three national funds and three provincial funds.
